About Me:
Currently, I'm the bassist in Try.Fail.Repeat - a modern, progressive rock band (think Foo Fighters, Tool, Breaking Benjamin, APC...somewhere in there).
I'm also a solo artist working on my next solo CD. Check out www.myspace.com/michaelwu01 if you like. My solo stuff is more akin to REM, David Gray, Sting (though, obviously it's no where near the skill / quality of any of those aforementioned artists).
I've been playing bass for 22 years - to me, that's a funny thing to say 'cause it seems like yesterday that I first heard Steve Harris pounding out the bass line to an Iron Maiden tune that got me hooked to the low end. My biggest influences are Steve Harris, Geddy Lee, John Paul Jones, John Myung, and Sting. There are many more, but, alas, read my MySpace bio if you're interested...
Thanks for reading!
Why I Joined MTD Bass Enthusiasts:
My buddy Rich Briere told me about this group. And, I am a firm believer in the mantra MTD4LYFE. I've had the honor of meeting Mike and his staff, tour his shop, and (of course) play a creation of his.
The 635 sounds wonderful after MT replaced all the guts and pups with new stuff. Haven't played it out on a gig yet however the tones are versitile. Its a great addition to my collection now. Experimenting with strings now. Bought a picolo set and will have fun with that now.
Micheal...Man you have some beautiful MTD bass gems!!! And your playing is really good too. On;y just joined the site and thinking of getting a fretless 4 MTD...at this point considering a Kingston Hier in Cherry- though since thee is no dealer any where near me and the fretless is hard to find -I'll probably have to buy sight unseen as well as unplayed...but I'll be getting more feedback hopefully from people like yourself who've played a few of these basses, have you ever played a fretless version of a 635...if so how did you like the sound and how did it play?? Thanks ...Russ
Did you get to play your new one thru the rig yet? Man is that thing unreal..
And of course you had it singing away in the shop..Everyone on here, if you havent checked out Mike Wu's band and or his playing you are missing out!! Do it.. its all mtd4lyfe!!
