Hi Russell......There are only three lines of "manufactured basses" that I'd buy without giving it a thought..and MTD is #1 on the list. With a tiny bit of adjustment you'll always have a Monster bass.

Hi Russell - Congrats on teh MTD purchases and thank you for the comments on my music. The project is one I am co writing and producing with Ken Williams who is a great steel pan player. If you would like to hear more I have some clips on my MySpace page

Thanks Russ! I have not played a MTD fretless. However, MTD would be one of the ONLY basses that I would consider buying un-played. I feel this way because these instruments are so consistent in their design and construction, as well as versatile in their tone and setup, I'm confident that I could adjust it the way I like and get the tones that I like.

Have you contacted Joe Roberts or Rich Briere? Joe has a USA fretless and a Kingston fretless (and many other very kewl basses). He may have some data points for you. Rich also has a USA 5 string and a Kingston 5 string - both fretted, but, he could comment of the playability of both and the differences.

Good luck! Post some pics when you get it!

Hi MTD Dudes...Man this is a heavy crowd I'm dropping into...I've been listening to these basses on sound clips only because I have'nt got to play one live but I have to tell you that I'm infatuated with these basses...I really would like to get a 4 string thin-necked version(I have small hands)...fretless if I can...of course, used in great condition, would also be great...anyone have any sugestions for which bass I ought to be looking at....Peace...Russ
