Hi all! Hope things are going well!
Just saw this linked on the MTDBass.com website - Looks like PremierGuitar.com reviewed an MTD 535-24 bass recently, and (surprise!) scored it a 5 out of 5 .
The review has sound clips to highlight the versatility of the test instrument, which was ash with a maple burl top. You can read the entire review here:

Great new video from NAMM '09 on-line now from PremierGuitar.com, in which Mike introduces two new entry-level MTD models, and discusses why he favors build quality over pricey electronics on the Kingston line, and goes into detail on why he uses the zero-fret on his fretted basses. Very cool!

Feels like forever since I posted here on MTD BE! But I've been checking things from a distance in between diaper changes for my daughter :-).
Let me send out a big WELCOME and THANKS to our new members! We're now closing in on 150 MTD lovin' members!
I also wanted to hip any potential MTD owners to several auctions for MTD USA, Z, and Kingston basses going on over at eBay.com right now. N… Continue

If you've never seen an MTD custom 7-string, check out this thread at the TalkBass forums. One of the TB users has a 7-string MTD for sale, with some nice pics of the bass (see example below). Enjoy!
Just saw this MTD for sale on eBay.com. I don't know anything about it but it looks killer and it's an Avadore body which is getting harder & harder to come by these days.
100 MTD BE members, that is!
We now have 100+ members, hailing from 10+ countries, representing bass paying across dozens of musical styles! That's just... well, it's just awesome.
I'm looking forward to virtually meeting the next 100 members!
In other news, MTD BE member and bassist extraordinaire Norm… Continue
Hey all - hope everyone is doing well!
I wanted to mention that The Musicians Network TV has a series of YouTube.com videos of Mike in his shop working on some instruments. Funnily enough, I am about 90% sure that the bass Mike is working on in Part 2 and the beginning of Part 3 is my trusty fretless (#1497). I haven't confirmed with Mike yet but I'll try to do that in the next week or so; but the wood combo, timing of the vids, and even the knots in… Continue

Hi everyone - hope all is well, and thanks for the kind baby-wishes!
Thought I'd take a second to hip you all to the Groups functionality here at MTD BE. Because these totally rock, but so far none of our way-cool 80+ users have tried them out yet!
Groups are independent communities within the MTD BE network. They are boku powerful compared to MySpace and facebook groups.
Each group is like a private conference for interacting wit… Continue

Had my first gig with Z6 this past Friday night. Here are my thoughts on the bass:
I was dreading playing an entire show with this bass strapped on. But it didn't feel too heavy and my back was not worse for wear after the show. The bass is a bit neck-heavy, but strapped on it was pretty well-balanced.
The string spacing is a tiny bit more narrow than on the Z5 and 535s, and I found that it still didn't feel quite right for me, I was a bit less accurate than I am on the MTD 5s. Nothing that a… Continue

Hey everyone,
Looks like the much-anticipated MTD "J-Bass" might be finally hitting the streets. Bass Exchange has a black beauty of an MTD Jazz 5 for sale on their website.
I've included a pic from the Bass Exchange website below, to fuel your G.A.S. appetites :-).

Hi all - I'll be a bit sparse in the next 2 or 3 weeks, as our first baby has arrived.
Take care, I will try to touch base with the network in-between diaper changes :-).
Cheers!
We're one month into the life of the MTD BE network. In that brief month, we're nearly 70 members strong!
We have also managed to pull together what is arguably the most comprehensive and interactive source of "player-perspective" information on MTD Basses ever assembled.
How we… Continue

Six Zs, to be exact!
It's been a long time since I had a 6-string bass. Mostly they were too heavy for a little dude like me, and the string spacing was too narrow, so much so that I felt that I couldn't really play them accurately live.
But I decided to take the plunge again, figuring that I could t… Continue

Well, we're 2 weeks into the life of the MTD BE and we're goin' strong with over 60 members. The network is growing faster than I can keep up with it!
I thought I'd take a second to hip you to some of the features of the network (now that I've had a chance to catch my breath):
My Page
